Fire and Pain

“I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen pain. I’ve seen sun arrays that I thought would never end…” said Reverend Glenn T. Bilkens, CPA, as he conflated the lyrics of a well-known James Taylor song and what exactly? Murmurs of confusion passed through the twenty-three congregants inside the good reverend’s tent.

After glancing at his watch and seeing that it was 9:44am, William Burris leaned over to fellow church-goer Ruth Swibberly and said, “It’s a little early to be on the sauce.”

Swibberly nodded, “Even for the reverend.”

“Maybe he got a premonition,” Burris said hopefully.

Noticing the mood of confusion among his parishoners, Bilkens shifted gears. “I’ve recently been the recipient of a vision regarding investment opportunities in solar power.”

A ripple of understanding passed through the worshippers. Bilkens added, “Why the good Lord above said ‘Let there be light’,” heads nodded, “But He did not say ‘Let there be petrochemicals’.”

“Praise Jesus,” was heard in the congregation.

“The vision went on to say that Sun Ra Solar Tech is a good investment, and Yah Way Solare has a positive free-cash flow.” Members of the parish were seen making note of the companies.

Bilkens added, “Full disclosure, I am currently long Sun Ra and Yah Way. Can I get an amen?”

“Amen!” enthused his parishoners and clients.
